ABOUT VIRGINIA HELICOPTER ASSOCIATION
The VHA was formed in late 2005 by a group of helicopter pilots that flew or operated from then Hampton Roads Charter Service, that would later become Hampton Roads Helicopters (HRH).
The first VHA General Membership meeting was held at Hampton Roads Executive Airport (PVG) on 11 June 2006. Two of the original charter members were Andy Gibbs of HRH, and Bob Reid who became VHA's first president. Both were presenters at the first meeting.
The first VHA public presentation was made at PVG and held in the HRH hangar on 12 April 2008. The speaker was CWO David S. Williams, relating to the downing of an AH-64 Apache Helicopter in Iraq, and the two pilots being held captive. They were subsequently rescued by US Marines on 13 April 2003.
Today, the VHA offers pilots, mechanics, and helicopter enthusiasts in Virginia a place to find friends and peers, learn more about helicopters, and share their experiences. With a growing membership, and more events always being added to the calendar, consider joining the VHA today!
The VHA is established as a 501C7 Non-Profit Organization (.org)
